AN OPEN LETTER TO SHIVRAJ PATIL
DATE : 26TH NOVEMBER 2008 , around 10:40 PM
I was busy playing a game on my computer , and I receive a message from one of my friends on Gtalk. Peeved at being disturbed during my game play , I open the messenger . " Dude , did u hear about the attacks ? " . I then realized that India's financial nerve center , Mumbai had been targeted by terrorists , yet again.
I switch on the TV , hoping to get more information about the attacks , from the numerous news channels. But , boy , was I in for a surprise ..
I see His Excellency Mr.Shivraj Patil !! For those uninformed , this man happens to be the Home Minister of India . He was looking straight into the cameras and talking about the attacks. With all due regard Mr.Patil , we need no more comments from your side.
India has been attacked repeatedly , at regular intervals. And the man , who is responsible for ensuring the safety of a billion Indians , has remained a mute spectator to all this nonsense which has plagued the country , in the name of terrorism . Mr.Patil , always has some alibi at hand , whenever an attack happens . And am sick of hearing the same thing from him over and over again .
" These are dastardly acts of terror " . " I condemn the blasts " . " We are with the people of India " . " It is the work of anti Indian elements " . " Innocent lives are being lost "....
He keeps repeating these lines over and over again ... ENOUGH IS ENOUGH , Mr.Patil.
What we need for the Home Minister , is not endless gibberish from his mouth . We need solid , steps being taken , to counter the menace of terrorism in India. Mr.Patil , you have to be more serious in your approach.
By the way , why am I addressing this inconsequential piece of dung as Mister ??? Am gonna refer to him as Patil , from now on..
Patil , you are easily the most inefficient minister , whom i have come across in 22 years of my existence on this planet.
Patil , you have no clue , what your obligations towards a billion people are ...
Patil , what exactly do you think you are doing , in the name of Home Minister of India ??
Patil , why don't you just shut that useless mouth of yours , when the country is under attack ?
Patil , do you seriously think that your comments are being taken seriously by anyone ?
Patil , do you really feel the need to say something every time the security of the country is compromised ? or is it just a sudden rush of insanity in that empty head of yours , which makes you utter this endless nonsense , at the drop of a hat ??
Patil , do you really care for the lives of a billion people , whom you have been asked to take care of ??
Patil , when will you realize that you are not doing your job properly ? or are you under the illusion that you are functioning very efficiently as the protector of a billion people ..
Patil , don't you realize that the image of the country is being tarnished , thanks to the inefficiency and incompetency of brainless chaps like you , in the guise of Ministers ??
Patil , do you seriously understand the concept of Internal Security ??
Patil , let me be very clear on this one.. a Home Minister has to ensure the safety of every single person in the country .. But you , on the other hand , are only concerned about your home , which I guess must be a multi-crore bungalow in one of Delhi's posh localities. This , i reckon , must be your idea of Home Minister.. brilliant ....
Patil , I really appreciate your crisp attire and upright demeanor , when you address the media , when hundreds of people are being killed across the country.
Patil , though your words seem to be very touching , in the light of terrorist attacks , I have always failed to notice a single note of regret , or a sense of loss in your dumb comments..
Patil , you can at best be described as an old , battered cassette player , which keeps annoying us with repeated nonsense all the time..
Patil , you sleep happily , like a new born baby , in your Air Conditioned bedroom , when we live with the utmost sense of insecurity..
Patil , do you seriously think you deserve to be paid the kind of money you make , in your capacity as a Cabinet Minister ? I feel , every single paisa which you make , is a loss to the country as a whole...
Patil , the least you can do , is close that big mouth of yours , and stop bugging us .. We all know that you are nothing , but a heap of dung... You don't have to prove it , every time you come out to say something...
Patil , come on , be a man for once.. stop listening to the words of another incompetent person.. and an Italian at that.. You take orders from a person , who is supposedly India's most powerful politician... and does not even speak the National Language properly.. Take orders from an Indian , dude.. Don't just bow down to that person , who is another inconsequential dumb head , like most of your colleagues in Parliament..
Which reminds me . when people were asking for your resignation , you had the nerve to go public with the following statement .. " I will resign , only when my Leader Sonia Gandhi asks me to resign.." .. The absolute nerve !!!
You stooped so low , to take orders from an European , whose only claim to fame , is making Rajiv Gandhi succumb to her charms... How worse can one become ??
Patil , in the unlikely event that you come across this letter , let me make it very clear tat I am not only against you , but also against most of the politicians , who have tarnished the image of the country.. You people are an absolute disgrace to the country.. All you are fit for , is to shout in Parliament..
You travel , in the comfort of bullet proof A/C cars , while I have to live with the fact that my life is at stake , everytime I board a train to commute to college everyday , in Chennai . Everytime I step out to watch a movie in a theatre , or eat out at a restaurant , or shop in the commercial area , my life is on the line...
But am not scared , buddy.. NOT ONE BIT.. I , like the common man on the street , have been through a lot in life.. I know what it takes to face challenges.. Living for more than twenty years , as a commoner , in India , has made me strong..
I bloody well know how to face tough situations in life.. After all , I have been made to put up with the utter incompetence of politicians , all through my life..
I assure you , piece of dung , that we are not scared.. We feel sorry for the people of the world who have lost their near and dear ones to terrorism.. But , am aware that , God forbid , i could be next.. and am not scared ...
But you , nit-witted fool , need not be worried .. What do know about the meaning of the word " LIFE " .. I assure you that you are safe , as you bloody well know , thanks to bulletproof cars , and a dozen pilot vehicles , to cover you everytime you step out of your house.. your life is safe , while the common man's life is on the line 24 x 7 .
It hurts ,to see you politicians , travel safely , and stop traffic everytime you leave the confines of your homes.
It hurts , to see that you are so insensitive to the sentiments of a billion people.
It hurts , to watch you in your expensive and crisp clothes , when the common people's clothes are splattered with blood , everytime terrorists attack us.
It hurts , to see people getting killed in the middle of the night , in Mumbai , while you snore away to glory , safe under the cover of a dozen commandos outside your posh bungalow.
And , Patil , why do you make it a point to visit the injured , in the hospital ? Do you believe , that we are convinced that you care for them ? I tell you , we dont trust you . All that, is a publicity stunt , common among your fellow politicians , always in want of the ubiquitous media byte.
Patil , one of these days , I sincerely hope that an injured person gets up from his hospital bed , and gives you a tight slap across that stupid face of yours . You deserve it , you fat headed idiot.
Patil , do you think that your visits serve any purpose ?? Ill tell you what happens.
You hear about a terrorist attack , and this is what you do..
STEP 1 : You dress up , as if you are attending State function , replete with immaculate hairstyle.
STEP 2 : Walk towards the hordes of media people waiting to get that futile sound byte from you.
STEP 3 : This is the part , where you make yourself worthy of an Oscar Award for Best Actor.
STEP 4 : You put up a sorry face , and come up with an Oscar worthy performance , making useless statements.
STEP 5 : You then announce that you have appointed committees to , look into the issue. But i know that these never really materialize.
STEP 6 : You then visit the site , fully knowing that your presence there is of no use whatsoever.
STEP 7 : You then visit the injured , and come up with yet another Oscar performance , hugging and consoling them.
STEP 8 : You then spend the rest of the day , God only knows what you do there.
STEP 9 : You again make some dumb comment before boarding the flight.
STEP 10 : You return home , and carry on with your useless work.
Patil , does any single step , which I have mentioned , serve any purpose whatsoever ? Is there any small bit of sense in what you do ??
Patil , there is an absolute sense of insecurity in the Country ...
Patil , you are incompetent..
Patil , you are inefficient..
Patil , you dont care about the lives of a billion people..
Patil , you are truly the best Home Minister the Country has had so far , because you only take utmost care of your home , and not mine....
Patil , do you feel bad , when people are being killed in Mumbai.. I do !!!
Patil , do you feel an urge to kill those terrorists who have made us feel bad ... I do !!!
Patil , do you feel the need to provide more security for the people... I do !!!
Patil , do you feel the need to dress up immaculately , when people are being killed , and make useless comments.. I don't .. but sadly , you do !!!
I admit am not a fan of the Congress Party. But this is not a pro-NDA letter either. It sums up the feelings of an entire country , whose people have become rather disillusioned , with political scum like Shivraj Patil.
Patil , I whole heartedly detest you , with every fibre of my being. Every time I see your stupid face on TV , I feel like puking.. Honest..
Patil , you have only one achievement . Congrats , for making the common man , look at every object lying in the street , with fear.
You have single handedly , tarnished the image of the Country .
Patil , everytime you eat happily , to your heart's content , remember that you owe every grain of rice , to the people of India.. Honest , hard working , tax paying citizens...
You are the biggest terrorist , as you have managed to bring a sense of fear , all across India , thanks to your incompetence.
I conclude my long letter with this....
If you have an iota of moral dignity left inside you, you better resign from the post of Home Minister... I cannot get anymore candid..
I know that there is no way this is going to reach you.. But in the unlikely event that it does , I know you might consider a defamation suit against me...
But i believe , YOU ,PATIL, have to be served the biggest ever defamation suit , in the history of the World.. for bringing shame to the World's Greatest Country , thanks to your stupidity and sheer incompetence...
Resign , Patil , resign.. in the best interests of a billion people...
TO HELL WITH YOU !!! adieu ...
Rohit .. on behalf of the common man....
Well,I was thinking, one day,as to how I could reduce the size of my pictures on my comp as they were taking a large amount of space.I searched on the internet and the results that popped up either were of evaluation software or they were obnoxiously priced.
After a lot of searching around I came across one little gem of a software called PictureTray. This "Slim" software,as I have called it before, is "Slim" because it weighs just 335Kb.Yes..., as little a 335Kb.Though you wont be able to do anything spectacular this software offers a very good alternative to users who are looking for software to reduce the resolution of pictures.
The interface is very elementary and precise and the software offers the options of either resizing or rotating the pictures. We can either use the scales provided in the software or provide our own output resolution.
The software requires no installation and if you want to uninstall all you have to do is delete the file you have downloaded.Simple, ain't it . Some websites allow only pictures of a certain resolution to be uploaded and that is where the true use of this software arises. It seamlessly reduces the resolution of the pictures and the quality of the output is pretty the much the same as the original picture and the size is also reduced considerably. It also enables the use of multiple files and the output files can be copied on to the computer by a simple Drag-Drop
The software is FREE and can be downloaded from Picture Tray.

Let's take a look at one of the most interesting and rather useful piece of artwork.
One way I read about, in some magazine, to increase concentration power of the brain was by using the Srichakra. The Srichakra is an ancient Indian symbol or design which consists of a concentric series of triangles cumulating in one singular triangle at the center. There are 43 triangles in all.
The Srichakra or the Sriyantra, as it is sometimes reffered to, has a large number of fables and stories weaved around it. To each his Own, I guess. Well, some look at it from a religious perspective others from an artistic. But the fact remains that the Srichakra remains an integral part of Hindu Mythology. It is quite commonplace to find a Srichakra in many Hindu temples. The intricate and complex design of the Srichakra has also been explained in many different ways ranging from the religious to various other aspects. The concept of the Srichakra has been studied by various scholars and philosophers to understand the design, effects and the history behind the yantra.
I have a Srichakra at my home which I obtained from the magazine in which I read about the yantra. The power of concentration can be increased by focussing at the central dot in the Srichakra, which is located in the central triangle of the Srichakra. I was skeptical at first of this exercise but still decided to give it a try and I have to say that it has worked for me quite well. I guess the reason for this is that it is almost impossible to maintain focus on the dot during the first instance, due to the complex geometry of the yantra. At first it was quite difficult to maintain the focus as my eyes would keep moving away to other parts of the yantra. But with constant effort i have been able to progress further. This activity does not need much time as well. I have found that practising this technique 5 minutes a day has helped in improving my concentration.I hope u guys can reap the benefits of this technique as well.
There are other ways of increasing concentration such as meditation, yoga etc. but they can be quite time consuming.Subliminal messages and binaural beats have also been found to provide good results. There are many articles on the internet that relate the apparent power of the Srichakra to various aspects such as the Pyramidal shapes in the figure etc..They all make for a good read and I actually find my intigue growing , the more I read about it.I hope u guys can reap the benefits of this technique as well.Cheers.

Another Indian to add to the list of the Man Booker Prize winners!!It's great news for all us Indians and especially sweeter for us Chennaiites as Chennai is where Mr.Aravind Adiga was born.
Aravind Adiga won the Booker prize for the year 2008 for his novel "The White Tiger", which incidentally is his debut novel. He is one of the select few who have won this award during their debut.Another well known face in India who achieved the same feat was Ms.Arundhati Roy for her novel "The God Of Small Things".Mr. Adiga joins the elite list of Man Booker prize winners from India which contains some stalwarts of the literary world such as V.S.Naipaul(Indian Ancestry) and Salman Rushdie among others.
The White Tiger is a novel about a villager who will go to any means to escape from his impoverished life in the village and harbors thoughts of making it big in the city. The book is a study about the Rural-Urban divide in India and the divide between the rich and the poor.Mr. Adiga has dedicated his award to the city of Delhi as it was in Delhi where he spent most part of his life and the book is about the capital city itself.
Some of the other Indian authors who have won this prestigious award are V.S.Naipaul, Kiran Desai, Salman Rushdie and Arundhati Roy. The award comes with a 50,000 pound cash award as well.
